Gonet-Medeville

This estate was born of the marriage of two well-known wine families: Xavier Gonet (from le Mesnil-sur-Oger) and Julie Medeville. Both Julie & Xavier come from long lines of winemaking families. Julie’s wine ties are with the family estate in Sauternes, Château Gilette, and Xavier’s are with the family holdings in the Champagne region where his family have been grape growers for generations.

What we now know as Gonet-Médeville Champagne began in 2000 when Xavier’s family plots were being divided up. He opted for a modest selection of high quality Premier & Grand Cru vineyards primarily located in the 3 villages of Bisseuil, Ambonnay, & Mesnil-sur-Oger, they also have holdings in 5 other villages across Champagne.

All of the family holdings are farmed organically, yields minimized to focus on quality, not quantity, and each parcel is vinified separately to emphasize its individual terroir. Every decision in the vineyard and the cellar is made with the constant focus of producing exquisite, small production Champagnes.

None of the wines go through malolactic fermentation and all the bottlings only receives a minute dosage. Vinification varies from cuvée to cuvée but all of the bottlings see time in used barrique during fermentations and elevagé; but stainless tanks are also employed at these stages.
