Deutz 'Amour de Deutz' Rose 2008
The Amour de Deutz Rose 2008 cuvee is primarily made up of Pinot Noir (64%) from terroirs in Ay, Verzenay, Ambonnay and Bouzy, as well as Chardonnay (36%) from the Avize and le Mesnil-sur-Oger crus. This champagne’s distinctive style and color are the result of the addition to the blend of a 9% proportion of fine Pinot Noir red wine, produced by Deutz from parcels of old vines growing on the Ay hillside and Mareuil-sur-Ay.
On the eye: This champagne displays a shimmering, delicate pink-gold hue. The effervescence is fine, lively and steady and the ring of mousse, vibrant and joyful.
On the nose: Very expressive and seductive, with delicate aromas of black and red berries, uplifted by a fine touch of vanilla.
On the palate: The flavors on the palate match the aromas detected on the nose, with smooth, fresh and fruity notes of strawberries, raspberries and red berries. The champagne displays a lovely tension within the aromatic palette without losing any of the vintage’s nobility. The finish is luscious, precise and elegant, and shows lovely length.
The Amour de Deutz Rose cuvee is the ideal companion to life’s finest moments. A sumptuous aperitif, it will also partner well with delicate, subtle, and even spicy, dishes. It will pair very nicely with grilled lobster or with the fine flesh of delicate fish such as Red Mullet or John Dory. It can also complement, and may even magnify, a carpaccio of Kobe beef, baby lamb or pigeon with cherries.
