Drawing inspiration from ink - central to the correspondence of Madame Clicquot - Veuve Clicquot partnered with Swedish artist Stina Persson, to create a limited edition offer for their prestige cuvee La Grande Dame. This isothermic case will keep the bottle chilled for up to 2 hours, and is a great gift for the holidays.
On the eye - The color is luminous, sparkling gold with amber highlights. There is plenty of effervescence. The fine, light bead swirls up slowly and gracefully.
On the nose - The first nose reveals a definite mineral base, with noble fruit (white peaches and bergamot) and remarkable intensity. On agitating, the bouquet becomes gourmand and voluptuous with hints of brioche, nougat, apricot, vanilla, frangipane and jasmine.
On the palate - There is plenty of body and substance. The texture is crisp and silky. The chalky mineral note resonates magnificently with this full-bodied structure and intensifies the lengthy persistence. The finish is fresh and generous, indicating a light dosage that does nothing to disturb the wine's natural balance.
This wine has unbelievable ageing potential. The 2004 vintage of La Grande Dame, the quintessence of the Veuve Clicquot style, reaches a peak of refinement, without losing its legendary strength produced by a blend including nearly two-thirds of Pinot Noir.
