Bollinger La Grande Annee Rose 2004
This is Madame Bollinger’s ultimate gift, the result of rare conditions: a blend between a great champagne and one of the very best red wines of the Champagne region, both from the same vintage.
The blend is 68% Pinot Noir, 32% Chardonnay. 89% from Grands crus, 11% Premiers Crus. 5% red Cote aux Enfants wine.
At Bollinger, only very high quality harvests become vintage: vintage 2004 gives us beautifully wine-like champagne, with pleasant hints of a great Pinot Noir
To the eye: Salmon colored with orange hues
To the nose: Red currant and almonds aromas followed by spicy and grilled notes. Flavors of great Burgundy Pinot Noirs
To the palate: Surprisingly wine-like but also very lively. Aromas of cherries, or kirsch, and toasted bread
Duck breast, quail, pigeon or guinea fowl
Venison sauce Grand Veneur
Exotic or oriental cuisine
Rhubarb and red berry crumble
