Charles Heidsieck Brut Millesime 2005
A wine of distinct character, from an exceptional vintage. In all regions of France, the 2005 grape harvest was judged to be outstanding. 2005 offered perfect conditions for the Champagne region in particular: a cool dry winter, an early heat wave in June, moderate rainfall in the summer, and finally, the return of very hot weather at the beginning of September, perfect for the grapes.
To the eye: A deep golden robe with generous effervescence
To the nose: Autumnal and warm, with surprising aromas of praline and lightly toasted hazelnuts. The meticulous selection of Pinot Noir (60%) and Chardonnay (40%) heralds the complex personality of this champagne.
To the mouth: The incredible balance offers a firmness expected of a great champagne as well as an autumnal unctuousnes which one might anticipate from the climatic condition offered by this vintage, characterized by generous flavors of dried apricots, dates and figs which delicately coat the palate.
With a creamy texture and long finish, the distinctive personality of this wine is the perfect companion for a gourmet lunch.
